The Guitar is Not Singing

This is a square painting 12x12.It is multimedia. I often paint to music and music remains one of my loves. I can't fail to listen to music everyday. It calms me and excites me and it is perfect to play it while painting. Sometimes it does not sing, that is , sometimes it is hard to get an image one likes, but in this case, I was able to crop and get this image.

Faded Garden

It is late, late August and the beautiful flowers are beginning to wilt . I thought this mixed media reminded me of the last of summer, which I hate to see go.

Turquoise Fantasy No. 42

This painting took some time to get finished. I put layers of watercolor, acrylic and inks. I let the water move as it would. Then I placed some wax paper in the wet areas and made the lines. Measures 32x7 I may combine this with more fluid watercolors at bottom or on sides or leave it as is.

Passing the Day in Summer

The beautiful weather in these parts of Western North Carolina are absolutely gorgeous. I have a garden with beautiful flowers and a two butterfly trees. The birds and the butterflies are constantly hovering over these trees and it is beautiful to see the colors of both the butterflies and the birds. Thus the ecstasy the scene provokes. Purple Passion

This 16x20 is one of my alltime favorites. It is done on paper using the wet into wet method. After the washes settled down and many days later, I finished the painting by pouring a bit of white ink and letting the paint flow.

Lady Bug and Painting

Well, here I am with my painting at the recent exhibit in Black Mtn. I truly love that painting. Am afraid I made a goof and misnamed the media. I should have entered the watermedia category, but labeled it mixed media. I suppose I still don't have the art jargon quite straight. Or maybe they don't. To me, mixing media means using what was used here, watercolors, acrylics and some ink. It apparently means something else to others which is when you collage stuff and use the three medias. Live and learn(if ever).

Newspaper Article Swannanoa Valley Art League exhibit.

This is a picture that was in the Mountaineer Newspaper of three women who participated in a recent juried show.My two friends got awards and I got juried in too which was good . The bottom picture is yours truly and I was just sort of kidding around. I should say the top painting is mine.I had another one juried in and will blog it. It is hard not to get a blob of light in the picture, but I guess we all know what it is like. The reception was a lot of fun and there were a lot of good paintings.

The Black and the Blue Seascape

This painting is 16x12 done in watercolors with some white ink and gouache touches. It reminded me of the ocean although it can be anything other than a seascape.
