This is a square painting 6x6. It is framed in black and the background is white. I glued in the collaged pieces beginning with tissue paper. Then I placed some rice paper that had been died on top of the tissue and added paint to the top. I also glued in mesh that come from a bag of oranges. Later I decided to glue on an accent piece of paper with lines to complete the work.
I will soon start giving classes in contemporary mixed media experimental work using a varieity of papers, etc.

Snow Day Series
A Happy Day
Despite a terrible snow storm and very cold temps, I felt happy to be warm inside and to be able to paint without rushing. This painting measures 18x24 matted. I enjoy seing the painting evolve. I started with wet in wet as usual. After several layers , I dried it. Then I started to see shapes in it and I thought it needed more punch. I then layer on some pastels and then finished it with ink lines.

Trinidad, Cuba , a slice of life
Neighboring Barn
This painting is a watercolor. Measures 16x20. I have painted many barns over the years and this is one more. I find them irresistible to paint and actually they are getting to be relics of the past and need preserving in paintings. Nestled in the mountains they some times look small , but other times as in this case, they are in full view close by. Joyful Western North Carolina. Must be one of the most beautiful places on earth.
Wonderful Autumn by Silvia Williams
This is a pastel work measuring 16x20. It celebrates the autumn in these gloriously beautiful North Carolina mountains. Write swsilart@gmail.com for more info.

Festivities
Autumn, View from Studio
This small painting 8x10 was done in honor of Artist's Day which is Monday. It is a multilayered painting and it began with leaves collected on a walk around home. I pasted the leaves to get texture and then I put pastels and acrylics to finish it and give the feeling of Fall as I look at it through my studio window and really all through the house windows.
